Brantley County Schools Adopt New Cell Phone Policy

Schools within the Brantley County School System have continued to make academic gains over the past several years. The academic improvement can be attributed to a number of factors, most notably, a strong commitment to place academic achievement at the forefront of our priority list.  Board of Education members, system leaders, administrators, teachers, staff, parents, and students are to be commended for making and maintaining this commitment.

In an effort to continue to maintain the academic focus required for continuous improvement, all schools in the Brantley County system have adopted the following new cell phone policy for the 2007-2008 school year.

Cell phones will not be permitted on a Brantley County school campus during instructional time, with the exception of their storage in a vehicle.  The first time a cell phone is found to be present on campus during the instructional day, it will be taken up and turned in to the front office.  The cell phone will be returned ONLY to the student's parent/guardian during designated distribution dates (listed below).  Upon repeated infractions of this rule, the same pick-up procedures will be followed, with an added consequence of 3 days of In School Suspension for the second offense and 5 days of In School Suspension for all subsequent offenses.
