DRAMA
CLUB
Our drama department has
been very busy during the 2008-2009 school year beginning with Region
2AA One Act Play competition this past
November. This year,
we took "Paper or Plastic?" by Werner Trieschmann. Through our
students' hard work and tremendous talent, we came in second place in
the region and had two students, Tyler Smith and David Ceran, who were
selected to the region all-star cast. I commend all of our cast and
crew for a job very well done.
This spring, we have even
more going on. We are preparing for our Coffee Shop Night that will
feature original scripts from our class members, return
performances from former drama students, along with coffee, pastries,
and other delectable treats. The purpose of this night is to honor our
former drama director, Mr. Joe Eichfeld, whose heart, labor, dedication,
and sacrifices have afforded us the ability to have a drama department
at all. On this night, we will also induct Mr. E as an honorary member
of the International Thespian Society in appreciation of his valuable
contributions to this department. I encourage all faculty, staff,
students, and anyone who has been touched by Mr. E's dedication to drama
as well as to BCHS to come out in his support on this very special
occasion.
The date of this performance
will be Monday,
March 16th, 2009 at
7:00 p.m. Admission is only $5.00 per person. In addition, a select
group of students are preparing to take our 2007 one act hit, "The Great
Pandemonium" by Pat Cook to the 2009 AASU One Act Play Festival that
will be held in Savannah, Georgia on April 3rd and 4th, 2009. I look
forward to an excellent two days' of competition and tons of fun in
preparation.
Our final production of the
year will be "The BCHS Not So Ready for Primetime Players Present: A
Night at the Improv." This is for a date that has yet to be determined
but will correspond with the last week of school. In this, students
will have an opportunity to show of the great improvisational skills
that we've spent all year developing. We will have groups of teachers
who have also volunteered to flex their acting muscles as well and I
look forward to an incredible night of hilarity that no one will soon
forget.
Stay tuned for more up
to date information as well as photos of our performances.
