COOPERATIVE BUSINESS EDUCATION (CBE) FACT SHEET
WHAT IS COOPERATIVE BUSINESS EDUCATION? CBE is a work training program for students who are interested in increasing their knowledge in the area of business education.
WHO MAY ENROLL IN CBE? Juniors and seniors who are interested in obtaining skills for part-time or full-time occupations may enroll in CBE. Students must be on track for graduation, must have a good attendance record, and must not be a discipline problem. Seniors who are interested in enrolling in CBE must have passed ALL parts of the Georgia High School Graduation Test in order to participate.
HOW DOES CBE OPERATE? CBE students spend the morning completing classes required for graduation. One period per day is spent in the CBE related class where the students work on business related projects. Students report to their jobs in the afternoons. While on their jobs, students receive on-the-job training and work a minimum of 15 hours per week.
WHAT LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES DOES CBE PROVIDE? CBE and other business education students participate in the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) which is a national organization. The main objective of FBLA is to promote competent, aggressive business leadership. To obtain this objective students are assigned responsibilities of leadership in organizing chapter activities in the areas of service projects, school projects, and social projects. FBLA students may participate in regional, state, and national competition.
